My Story
My biggest fear of getting a dog was health issues. Most dogs I’ve seen are overweight, skin issues, immune related illnesses, digestive issues, liver failure, diabetes, and the list goes on. With my background in endocrinology and nutrition for humans, I’ve connected the dots in these illnesses with deficiency markers in the dog’s diet. As I studied more about their ancestral diet stemming from their DNA, humans have veered very far off from the path of the right food dogs need to maintain healthy and thriving. Most of their health issues will stem from the lack of nutrients they need as an animal. With different tolerance ratio in the organs and different pathogens in their gut, they require what their ancestors of grey wolves ate to maintain their health. They require a variety of fresh raw protein, organ meat, and bones to maintain a healthy immune system.

Species Appropriate Meals takes you back to your pets ancestral diet. Dogs (the Canis familiaris) are the direct descendant of gray wolves and are still 99.9% wolf DNA.
Grass Fed and Pasture raised
We are the only dog food company that uses grass fed and Pasteur raised protein with no fillers. Almost all the other companies use grain fed live stock or mystery meat that can aggravate the absorption of the nutrients through poor gut health.

Complete and Proper Nutrition
We rotate the animal proteins using grass fed beef, venison, elk, green tripe, bison, chicken, turkey, wild boar, lamb. The supplements are mixed in to the patty so there’s no need for extra supplementation. All the supplemental ingredients are put in a blender and emulsified with kefir, spinach, carrots, berries, fresh turmeric, omega 3 fish oil and chia seeds. All ingredients are human grade that are approved through the FDA for human consumption.

Preservatives kill healthy gut bacteria, causes poor digestion, coat and skin problems, and leads to obesity. Many common kibble preservatives are: Ethoxyquin, Butylated Hydroxyanisol, Butylated Hydroxytoluelne, and propylene glycol.
Fillers
Grains are used as fillers because they are cheaper than meat. Typically, barley, oatmeal, white rice, soy, wheat, corn, corn gluten, and flour. Dogs don't have teeth that can eat grains and wheat causes dog allergies. Grains should not be in dog food whatsover.

Meat by products are rancid waste from slaughterhouses and often sick and diseased animals. Meat by products. Beef and bone meal is a nice way to say road kill.
